Preparations for music video

During our lessons this week, our group finished all our set designs, our costumes and props.  We put these ideas together with our storyboard and timeline to present in a meeting with the set designer:

Before the presentation

At the beginning of the week, it was quite challenging to sort out our final photo shoot for our music video.  Sarah and Mina wanted to do a burlesque type photo shoot but Chuffy and I disagreed, as their ideas didn’t fit in with the style we wanted and it wouldn’t look right.  We decided that we wanted our photo shoot to be 60’s style so began researching on Google and YouTube to see if we could find anything suitable:

Finally, our group decided that our photo shoot would be a hippie, psychedelic, flower power theme as this was so predominant in the 60’s.  When researching this on the Internet, I thought that it would be interesting to have a psychedelic background with white stairs coming out of it where Emma could walk down and use to pose for pictures.  The rest of the group agreed and we began looking into this idea further.  We discussed how we would be able to have a background and whether we could use a projector, printed background, a green screen or paint the background ourselves:  we came to the conclusion that this was a discussion we would have to have with the set designer on the Thursday.

The day before we met the set designer, Sarah and I decided to organise all the props we would need and where we would source these.  We commenced by going through each set and writing a list of all the props we would need a putting a star next to the ones we would need to ask the set designer to get.

While going through this list, we also looked at if there were any props that we could provide ourselves to save money.

What we can provide

Sarah = rug, white stall, white mirror and possibly the dressing table with this (all for dressing room)
Chuffy = rug for dressing room and a dressing table set if Sarah can't

After we completed this list, we decided to go to our theatre department to discuss what props they could possibly provide us as we realised that it would be easier to ask for only the vital things we needed to our set designer (that way we could ensure that we got the best things as we wouldn't be asking for so much).  They said they could provide us with the black steps that we could paint white and also offered us a bistro set of table and chairs.  We realised that the bistro set would fit a lot better with our french style cafe theme than the previous chairs we wanted as they were similar to an American diner.  Therefore we decided that our tables and chairs for our cafe/bar would look more like this:

We discussed this with our group in the production  meeting before our presentation and they agreed.
